California Schools and Higher Education Leaders to Meet in Pasadena
The importance of sustainability and the environment in California’s educational institutions, such as schools and Colleges or Universities cannot be overstated.

As educational institutions shape the minds of future leaders, it is crucial to instill a deep understanding and appreciation for environmental stewardship. By integrating sustainability principles into school curricula, students are empowered to become environmentally conscious citizens who understand the impact of human actions on the planet. Hands-on environmental initiatives within schools and higher education, such as recycling programs and energy conservation efforts, not only reduce the institution’s ecological footprint but also provide valuable learning experiences for students. As California faces its unique set of environmental challenges, schools and higher education campuses play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of environmental leaders who will drive positive change, ensuring a sustainable and resilient future for the state and the planet as a whole.

For over 16 years, Green Technology has highlighted best practices for education sector programs by way of the Green California Schools and Higher Education Summit. This exciting in person conference will take place at the Pasadena Conference Center on October 17th, 2023.

The opening session will feature inspirational leaders in sustainability, education and the environment starting at 8:30am after the morning continental breakfast spread. Dozens of green products and services will be on display in the exhibit area, from funding sources to integrated battery storage furniture, to the Ca Department of the State Architect. Education sessions will cover best practices, embodied carbon, electric vehicles and infrastructure, CALGreen and Energy Code updates, funding sources, building reuse addressing carbon reduction, whole building lifecycle analysis and much more.

The annual Leadership Awards presentations on October 17 will recognize those meeting and going beyond their sustainability goals. The awards are another way the Summit and its advisory board seek to support and encourage progress towards a better learning environment for the future.
