What’s New for Multifamily in the 2022 Energy Code Updates Webinar

This webinar will briefly review over major changes to the newly adopted 2022 Energy Code requirements for multifamily buildings scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2023.

 Topics that will be discussed include requirements for: envelope insulation including Quality Insulation Installation (QII) and fenestration; HVAC including ventilation, heat pumps, ERVs and HRVs, and fan systems; water heating; lighting; electric ready; solar PV and battery storage; and compliance software and forms.  Additionally, information on post-adoption meetings and how to participate and provide feedback on the proposed amendments to the 2022 compliance manuals, forms, and compliance software will be provided, as well as upcoming 2022 trainings and resources.

Christopher Olvera is the supervisor of the California Energy Commission’s Outreach and Education Unit which develops tools, presentations, and resources to support compliance and enforcement with the Energy Code. Chris has over 18 years of experience working at the Energy Commission. He began work as a student on the Energy Standards Hotline fielding questions about the Energy Code from designers, builders, and enforcement agencies statewide. Chris has served in several other positions supporting a variety of programs, including: the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) program; the Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider (ATTCP) program; processing low interest Energy Conservation Assistance Act (ECAA) loans; the Bright Schools program; and facilitating energy upgrades for schools per the Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39).
