The transportation sector accounts for the majority of greenhouse gas emissions in the state of California, accounting for 60 percent more emissions than the industrial sector. At 37 percent of total emissions, the contribution from the sector is well above the national average of 26 percent

An estimated 95 percent of the world’s transportation energy currently comes from fossil fuels.
