Green Technology is excited to announce that Tom Steyer will be the keynote speaker for the November 6 opening session of the 2013 Green California Schools Summit.
In 2012, Steyer served as chairman for Yes on Proposition 39, setting the stage for an unprecedented influx of funds for energy efficiency projects at public schools in California. Two years earlier, in 2010, he teamed with former Secretary of State George Shultz to defeat California’s Proposition 23, an effort by out-of-state oil companies to dismantle California’s groundbreaking clean energy law, AB 32.
At Stanford University, Steyer serves on the Board of Trustees as Vice-Chair, and three years ago he and his wife, Kat Taylor, founded two renewable energy research institutions there: the TomKat Center for Sustainable Energy and the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance.
“Prop 39 is the most exciting thing going on right now in the schools sector,” said Green Technology editor in chief Carl Smith. “This is a unique opportunity for attendees to hear from a private sector leader who is not only an energy visionary, but is also one of the most effective friends that California schools have.”
