The Next Generation of Public Sector Buildings

The 2020 Sustainable Facilities Forum, coming May 14, will be an important and engaging virtual event. The Forum, developed in partnership with leaders behind public sector building efforts, will focus the strategies, technologies and best practices that are driving a historic public sector building boom.

Increasingly, programs are focusing on the goal of zero carbon facilities. This means achieving energy efficiency at the highest standards and securing all power from renewable sources. It also requires building electrification. Education sessions will address these goals and how they are being pursued in state projects, including an unprecedented wave of new construction in Sacramento. EV infrastructure will also be addressed, including charging for medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Table top displays will highlight innovative products and services.

The opening session of the Forum will feature DGS Director Dan Kim and Kate Gordon, Director of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research.

Green Schools sessions will include an EV Fleet event covering the funding and resources available to help schools electrify their fleets. The schools program will also include sessions a ZNE school session from New Buildings Institute and a session on connecting facilities and environmental literacy.
