California’s Fluorescent Lamp Ban – What Comes Next? Webinar
California’s phase-out of mercury-containing fluorescent lamps under AB 2208 is now in effect, marking a significant shift in how public agencies maintain and upgrade their lighting systems. While the transition to LED lighting has been underway for many years, the lamp ban accelerates the need for facilities teams to evaluate remaining fluorescent systems and determine the best path forward.
Many public sector agencies, such as K-12 schools, colleges, cities and state governments have already converted large portions of their facilities to LED, but it is common for buildings to still contain a mix of lighting technologies. Maintenance teams are also discovering that replacement fluorescent lamps are becoming harder to source and that legacy ballasts and fixture components are increasingly unreliable after decades of service. The result is that lighting maintenance is beginning to shift from simple lamp replacement toward broader system upgrades.
For agencies beginning to plan next steps, a practical framework can help guide decision-making:
- Baseline – Understand Where You Stand
- Good – Maintain Compliance and Address Immediate Needs
- Better – Plan and Implement Strategic LED Retrofits
- Best – Integrate Lighting Modernization with Controls and Energy Strategy
Join us to learn from the California Conservation Corps and LTS Property Services.
As California continues adapting to the fluorescent lamp phase-out, understanding the practical realities of existing building systems will be critical. This webinar will bring together policy experts, facilities leaders, and implementation professionals to discuss what agencies are experiencing one year after the lamp ban took effect—and what practical steps can help ensure reliable, efficient lighting systems moving forward.
Date: April 22, 2026 | Time: 10:30am to 11:30am
Duration: 1 hour, includes Q&A and group discussion.

Blueprints for Tomorrow: Transforming K-12 Schools through Sustainability Master Planning
This presentation provides a practical roadmap for K–12 school districts to create and implement a Sustainability Master Plan (SMP) that unifies environmental, financial, and educational goals into one actionable strategy. The session guides attendees through every phase of the planning process, from data collection and community engagement to goal setting, funding, and progress measurement. Attendees will learn how collaborative master planning can transform schools into models of sustainability that lower operational costs, enhance learning environments, align with state and local climate goals, and strengthen community partnerships. Participants will also hear about the various drivers other districts considered when developing their own sustainability initiatives and how those factors shaped successful implementation.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the core areas of a sustainability and energy master plan and understand how they are integrated to drive district-wide impact.
- Describe the primary drivers—policy, economic, educational, and environmental—that necessitate comprehensive sustainability planning in schools.
- Assess strategies for stakeholder engagement, including staff, students, and community partners, that enhance buy-in and sustained action.
- Interpret sustainability metrics (KPIs) and use baseline data to set, measure, and achieve ambitious goals across energy, water, transport, and waste domains.
- Understand the broader co-benefits of sustainability planning, such as improved wellness, learning environments, equity, and long-term financial stewardship.
- Come away with a roadmap for implementing or refining a sustainability master plan tailored to various educational contexts.
Date: 12 May 2026 | Time: 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Strong Workforce Program (SWP) Facilities Construction and Modernization:
$109M available for California Community Colleges (CCC) Career Technical Education (CTE) Facilities Webinar
The SWP program is designed to strengthen existing CTE programs on California Community College campuses through targeted improvements to CTE facilities. It is guided by a “more and better” approach to CTE.
Generally $250,000 to $2 Million is allocated per Community College District. No matching funds are required. This year, $109 Million has been allocated across CA Community College Districts.
The applications window is July-October 2026.
The presenters will summarize the Strong Workforce Program (SWP) application process. Track and Field, Agriculture, Athletic, Culinary, and several other CTE program pathways will be discussed. An innovative Solar Outdoor Education Classroom will be presented as a timely option.
Your Community College District receives an SWP allocation each year, and the presenters will discuss strategies for multi-year CTE facilities infrastructure funding. This educational seminar combines several timely and advanced funding sources together with easy-to-understand explanation of how to capture funding, and manage cash flow, so as to benefit your Community College’s CTE programs.
