Rear Admiral Len Hering (ret.), currently the Executive Director of the California Center for Sustainable Energy, will be a keynote speaker at the 2014 Green California Schools Summit. The Summit will take place November 5-6 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
As Commander of the Navy Region Southwest, Admiral Hering was responsible for the development of sustainability programs that became models for the Department of Defense. During two years as as vice president for business services and administration at the University of San Diego, he oversaw the installation of the largest solar power system of any private campus in the country, instituted the most comprehensive water abatement project in the school’s history and enabled the university to save 3 million gallons of water per year and more than $1 million in electrical costs.
In a recent interview with Green Technology magazine, he discussed his perspectives on green policy and practice.
