This summer Green Technology will be hosting a new type of event: The Green Pathways to the Future Forum.
The Forum will bring together leaders from California's K-12 education community and our green business and industry community to address a question of great importance to the state's future:
How can California’s green technology industry support K-12 education efforts to prepare students to participate in the coming green economy?
Why is this such an important question? Because the curriculum in our K12 classrooms is the best means we have for informing and influencing the decisions of California's next generation of producers and consumers. But that curriculum is already crowded, so our teachers are going to need as much help as we can give them to integrate into it the concepts and applications of sustainable practices and technologies.
And why, in the face of the demands of daily commerce, should California's green businesses and industries want to help? Because if sustainability is about anything, it's about looking to the future, beyond quarterly reports and into the next few decades. Ten to twenty years from now, will you want a well-educated green workforce? Will you want smart consumers who demand green products and services because they know that's the best value for their money? Will you want citizens who support green business-friendly policies and incentives? Then you should recognize that one of the most effective investments you can make is the curriculum of our K12 classrooms.
Participation in the Pathways Forum is by invitation; its results will be shared broadly with members of the K-12, green industry, and appropriate state government communities. If you would like to participate, or recommend someone for participation, please fill out the Pathways Forum Participant Recommendation Form, or
