Butte-Glenn Community College recently unveiled its 1.06 megawatt solar array. The system includes 5,700 solar panels on a four-acre field that will generate 1.6 million kWh annually. Data is posted to the web and is also visible on an interactive kiosk on the college campus for real-time monitoring. The college estimates that it will save $300,000 annually, reducing utility bills by one-third. It also prevents over 1,000 pounds of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere each year.  The utility Pacific Gas & Electric provided a $3.7 million rebate which went towards the total $7.4 million cost for the system.  SPG Solar installed a SunSpot® monitoring system and interactive kiosk at the Campus Center building so students, staff, and visitors can view live-time solar production and building electricity consumption.itors can
