Zero
Emission Transit
for Desert Cities
SunLine
Transit Agency,
which serves Palm Springs and surrounding desert cities has received a
$2.8 million
Federal
Transportation Authority
grant to place the first-ever American designed and built hydrogen-powered
fuel cell bus into service.
SunLine currently operates a pair of zero-emission
hydrogen-powered buses, and is setting out to prove that fuel cells are a
viable path to commercializing a bus whose emissions are pure enough to
drink. In addition, this extremely green fleet includes 46 natural gas
buses and over 50 natural gas vans and medium and light duty trucks.
