2016 Green Schools and Colleges Summits Leadership Award Nomination Form

Submissions must be submitted by October 3, 2016
Winners will be notified by October 10, 2016

Awards will be presented at the Summit on October 29, 2015 at the Leadership Awards Ceremony at the Pasadena Convention Center.

The Leadership Awards were created at the request of the Advisory Boards for the Green California Schools and Community Colleges Summits to acknowledge outstanding accomplishments at California schools and community colleges.

We encourage nominations from schools and districts large and small. The awards are an ongoing part of the Summit program and the aim is to acknowledge as much good work as possible.

This year, the awards will recognize excellence in five categories. An award will be made in each category to both a K-12 and a community college project.

Award Categories

Teacher/Instructor/Professor
Awarded to an individual who inspires students to engage in environmental studies and projects through his or her teaching methods, curriculum development and proactive commitment to sustainability.

Student Engagement
Recognizing a student, or group of students, who have undertaken and completed projects that are geared to creating a healthier, more sustainable world. These can include conserving resources such as water and energy, managing waste effectively or envisioning other technological breakthroughs. Also considered in this award will be students who engage in civic actions that promote, educate or lobby for environmental projects.

Green Building
For the school, college or district that has demonstrated support for green building and other green programs by passing resolutions, backing bond measures and other financial vehicles for green building projects. Also considered in this category are green building projects completed during 2014.

Energy
For a district, community college or school that has achieved an extremely high level of energy efficiency through retrofits of existing buildings, addition of renewable energy to schools, purchasing alternative fueled school buses, commitment to build new schools with high levels of energy efficiency, etc.

Resource Management
For a district, community college or school that has successfully implemented water conservation projects, recycling, waste management, waste-to-energy projects and other types of resource conservation and management.
