Dixie Chopper zero-turn lawn mowers
Overview
6302 E County Road 100 North Coatsville, Indiana 46121Description
Proudly celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2010, Dixie Chopper is one of only a handful of family-owned and operated American lawn mower manufacturers.
Thirty years ago, owner/founder Art Evans built the first Dixie Chopper zero-turning-radius lawn mower in an old dairy barn on the edge of his parents’ farm, embarking on a journey that has changed the way Americans mow grass while helping make Dixie Chopper a household name.
Evans had two distinct goals in mind when he started Dixie Chopper in April 1980: To build a lawn mower that wouldn’t break when you used it; and to build a machine that would have timeless value with years of productivity remaining long after it had been paid off.
Based in Coatesville, Ind., Dixie Chopper today builds the most productive mid-mount zero-turn mowers in the industry, ranging from a 27-hp model with a 34-inch cut to a 40-hp version with a 74-inch deck and various combinations in between.
Besides models with gasoline engines supplied by Generac, Kohler and Briggs & Stratton, Dixie has a new diesel with a Caterpillar engine, a Generac propane unit and the industry’s only compressed natural gas-powered mower, the Eco-Eagle.
Not only has every single Dixie Chopper been made in the USA, they all have been manufactured and assembled right at home in Putnam County, Ind. Along the way Dixie Chopper has become known as "The World's Fastest Lawn Mower" (one with a 74-inch deck can mow a football field in 10 minutes).
