Terms of Use
The discipline of Green Purchasing is in the early stages of its development. Purchasing professionals, regulators, groups that administer rating systems, product and service providers, elected officials, non-governmental organizations and others who consider themselves to be stakeholders in this field can have widely varying perspectives regarding what exactly a “green” product might be.
This buyers guide is being developed to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and best practices relating to public sector green purchasing. Recognizing the existing divergence of opinion, the many information gaps, the continuing emergence of new products and technologies, and the fact that individual public sector entities may prefer to develop their own requirements and standards, this guide will not attempt product rankings or evaluations.
Companies whose products are included in this guide are solely responsible for all claims that are made regarding their products or services. Purchasers who are interested in more information about a particular product – its economic or environmental benefits, details relating to the environmental impact of its production and distribution, case histories, etc. – are encouraged to contact the manufacturer. Contact information is provided with each listing.
